Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - PCU to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Wilmington, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct patient care as an RN in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) • Monitor cardiac telemetry and interpret dysrhythmias • Manage and monitor patients with cardiac conditions including post-MI, CHF, and cardiac surgery patients • Perform pre and post cardiac catheterization care • Manage cardiac drips with and without titration as required • Perform arterial sheath removal and sheath management • Monitor and manage chest tubes using Emerson/Pleuravac systems • Provide non-invasive airway management including CPAP/BIPAP and nasal cannula • Monitor arterial lines and perform arterial line management • Conduct wound care and manage wound vacuum systems • Maintain current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications • Utilize Epic charting system for patient documentation • Pass EKG testing prior to start and maintain competency • Float between units within the hospital and to affiliate hospitals as needed • Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year) • Complete required pre-start and annual training modules (8-10 hours for acute care) • Maintain valid North Carolina or Compact state nursing license • Provide two supervisor references from within the past 12 months • Participate in Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team assignments during catastrophic events • Adhere to fatigue policy of no more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week • Complete laboratory testing within 48 hours of contract signing • Maintain 1:4 patient ratios for surgical step down and 1:5-6 for lower acuity patients • Work weekend coverage of 4 shifts per 4 weeks • Perform care for adult and geriatric patient populations
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
