Position Summary:

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide comprehensive nursing care for medical surgical telemetry patients with 1:6 patient ratio
• Monitor and interpret cardiac dysrhythmias and manage appropriate interventions
• Administer blood products and manage transfusion protocols
• Provide central line care and management including PICC lines
• Perform peripheral line care, management, and IV initiation and maintenance
• Manage surgical drains including JP drains, Hemovac drains, and Penrose drains
• Provide wound care and wound vacuum management
• Care for patients with chest tubes using Emerson/Pleur-evac systems
• Manage feeding tubes and NG tube/Corpak systems
• Implement isolation precautions and infection control measures
• Provide non-invasive airway management including nasal cannula and high flow nasal cannula
• Operate external CPAP/BIPAP equipment as needed
• Administer PCA management and heparin protocols
• Utilize rapid response teams and participate in code team activities
• Float to like units and affiliate hospitals as needed based on census
• Document patient care using Epic charting system
• Work every other weekend and 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Work 12-hour night shifts following 18:45 - 07:15 schedule
• Maintain BLS and ACLS certifications
• Complete required pre-start and annual training modules
• Participate in Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team assignments during catastrophic events
• Care for wide range of surgical and trauma patients including post-operative and pre-operative patients
• Manage patients with various diagnoses including cellulitis, appendicitis, cholecystitis, trauma injuries, and cancer
• Assist with procedures including cholecystectomy, appendectomy, hernia repair, and wound debridement
• Maintain professional behavioral expectations and teamwork approach
• Adhere to call-off policies and attendance requirements
• Complete 24 hours of unit orientation and 2 days of hospital orientation
• Pass EKG testing prior to start date
• Comply with dress code requirements of navy scrubs or navy bottom/white top
• Maintain valid nursing license and complete compliance documentation
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
