Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Med Surg Tele to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Wilmington, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct patient care for medical-surgical and telemetry patients as a Registered Nurse
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and dysrhythmias using telemetry equipment
• Perform IV starts and maintain peripheral line care and management
• Utilize Epic charting system for patient documentation
• Float between medical, surgical, and telemetry units as part of centralized resource nursing pool
• Maintain patient ratios of 1:6 target ratio with maximum 1:7 during high census periods
• Work 12-hour night shifts from 18:45 to 07:15
• Work every other weekend as required
• Complete 24 hours of unit orientation
• Pass EKG testing prior to start date
• Maintain current BLS certification with ACLS and NIH preferred
• Care for adult and geriatric patients with various medical-surgical diagnoses
• Implement isolation precautions and infection control measures
• Manage non-invasive airway management and nasal cannula oxygen therapy
• Participate in rapid response and code team situations
• Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable modules pre-start and annually
• Work as part of Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team during catastrophic events
• Report to work during mass casualty or disaster situations as required
• Adhere to fatigue policy of no more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week
• Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year)
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and other support services
• Provide care for patients held in emergency department awaiting inpatient beds
• Follow facility dress code requirements wearing navy and/or white scrubs
• Maintain professional behavioral expectations in all patient and staff interactions
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
