Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Med Surg Tele to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Wilmington, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide nursing care for Med Surg Telemetry patients with 1:6-7 patient ratios
• Manage dysrhythmias and interpret cardiac rhythm strips
• Perform O2 protocol management and non-invasive airway management
• Provide peripheral line care and management
• Implement isolation precautions and proper PPE usage
• Utilize Epic electronic charting system for patient documentation
• Activate Rapid Response Team when required
• Administer blood products when needed
• Manage central line care (preferred skill)
• Handle management of drips and infusions
• Float to similar units and alternate care locations with inpatients
• Float to main campus location 15 minutes away as needed
• Work every other weekend and be available for holiday coverage
• Work 12-hour night shifts from 18:45 to 07:15
• Participate in Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team assignments
• Report to work during catastrophic events, mass casualties, or disasters
• Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable modules pre-start and annually
• Maintain current BCLS certification and ACLS preferred
• Pass EKG testing prior to start date
• Adhere to fatigue policy of no more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week
• Provide wound care and wound vacuum management
• Care for orthopedic patients including total joint replacements and ortho trauma
• Manage surgical drains and PCA devices
• Complete laboratory testing within 48 hours of contract signing
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
