Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Med Surg Tele to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Wilmington, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide nursing care in ED Holding unit for patients awaiting inpatient bed placement
• Care for adult patients with various medical/surgical diagnoses in a fast-paced environment
• Float between ED, MedSurg, and other units as needed based on census and skill sets
• Maintain patient ratios of 1:5-6 for MS/Tele patients and 1:3-4 for PCU patients
• Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias and provide telemetry monitoring
• Administer blood products, IV medications including heparin and insulin protocols
• Manage peripheral lines, PICC lines, central lines, and access ports
• Provide care for patients with chest tubes, tracheostomies, and feeding tubes
• Perform wound care, colostomy care, and wound vacuum management
• Operate high flow nasal cannula, CPAP/BiPAP, and other respiratory equipment
• Interpret arterial blood gases and manage non-invasive airway interventions
• Provide care for patients with renal failure, CVA, traumatic brain injury, and spinal cord injuries
• Manage pre and post hemodialysis, neurosurgery, and orthopedic trauma patients
• Utilize rapid response teams and participate in code situations
• Document patient care using Epic charting system
• Complete 8-10 hours of required non-billable training modules pre-start and annually
• Work every other weekend and 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Maintain BLS certification and other required certifications
• Pass EKG testing prior to assignment start
• Complete lab testing within 48 hours of contract signing
• Participate in Storm/Hurricane team assignments during catastrophic events
• Adhere to fatigue policy limiting work to maximum 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week
• Maintain valid nursing license and provide supervisory references
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
