Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Med Surg to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Wilmington, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide comprehensive nursing care for Med/Surg patients with various diagnoses including diabetes, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, and surgical recovery cases
• Maintain patient ratios of 1:5-6 patients during night shifts (18:45 - 07:15)
• Perform telemetry monitoring including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Administer blood products, manage IV insulin protocols, and provide heparin therapy
• Provide colostomy care, feeding tube care and management, and wound care/wound vac procedures
• Manage pre/post hemodialysis care and central line blood draws
• Perform peripheral line care, PICC line management, phlebotomy, and IV insertion
• Operate and monitor chest tubes using Emerson/Pleuravac systems
• Provide respiratory support including CPAP/BiPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and oral suctioning
• Maintain isolation precautions and utilize rapid response teams when needed
• Document patient care using Epic charting system and SBAR communication
• Float between units within the hospital and to affiliate hospitals as assigned
• Work every other weekend and 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year)
• Complete 24 hours of unit orientation and required hospital orientation during first week
• Pass EKG testing prior to assignment start
• Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable pre-start and annual training modules
• Maintain current BCLS certification throughout assignment
• Adhere to fatigue policy of no more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week
• Report for Storm Team/Hurricane Team duties during catastrophic events as required
• Comply with navy/white scrub dress code requirements
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
