Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - PCU to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 4x12 Nights at a leading $facility_type$ in Winston Salem, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct patient care for PCU, medical/surgical, and telemetry patients with 1:4-5 patient ratios (up to 1:6 in extreme situations)
• Care for patients with COPD, pneumonia, respiratory distress, COVID-19, flu, and pulmonary embolism
• Manage patients with chest tubes, ventilators, CPAP/BiPAP, and tracheostomies
• Start IVs and provide central line care and management
• Administer and manage cardiac and vasoactive drips including dopamine, cardizem, and heparin
• Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias and telemetry monitoring
• Document patient care using Epic charting system
• Float to similar units within the facility or affiliate hospitals as needed
• Work 12-hour night shifts with 4 weekend shifts required every 6 weeks
• Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year)
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team including respiratory therapists, vascular access team, and rapid response teams
• Complete 24 hours of unit orientation and pass EKG testing prior to start
• Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable pre-start and annual training modules
• Maintain ACLS and BLS certifications
• Adhere to fatigue policy limiting work to maximum 5 consecutive days and 60 hours per week
• Follow isolation precautions and infection control protocols
• Utilize rapid response teams and code team resources when needed
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
