Position Summary:

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide nursing care for antepartum, labor & delivery, high risk antepartum, level 1 nursery, LDRP and mother/baby patients
• Perform antepartum care procedures including sterile speculum exams, NST, OCT, reflex checks, edema assessment, sterile vaginal exams, and patient triage
• Utilize fetal monitoring skills including spiral electrode placement, external and internal fetal monitoring, IUPC use, and recognition/treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Administer IV therapy and phlebotomy including blood product administration, venous blood draws, peripheral IV maintenance, and infusion pump management
• Manage medication administration including anticonvulsants, magnesium sulfate therapy, pitocin, prostaglandins, and terbutaline
• Provide labor and delivery management including amnioinfusion, assisting with high risk and vaginal deliveries, circulating and scrubbing for C-sections, and managing forceps/vacuum extractions
• Deliver neonatal care in delivery room including APGAR scoring, baby nursing, cord sample collection, ID/security banding, and thermoregulation
• Provide newborn care including circumcision assistance, car seat education, cord care, discharge teaching, metabolic screening, and phototherapy
• Manage pain through epidural and general anesthesia assistance, IV conscious sedation, nitrous oxide, pain assessment, and PCA use
• Provide postpartum care for patients with vaginal deliveries, C-sections, couplet care, multiple births, postpartum hemorrhage, and pregnancy-induced hypertension
• Maintain current BLS, AWHONN Intermediate, FHM, NRP, and STABLE certifications
• Work 12-hour night shifts from 18:45 to 07:15 with 36 hours per week
• Work 4 weekend shifts per 6 weeks schedule
• Serve in multiple roles including labor and delivery nurse, baby nurse, baby stabilization, C/S circulator, C/S PACU recovery nurse, and postpartum/neonatal care
• Utilize unit systems including Pyxis, EPIC, and SBAR for documentation and patient management
• Complete 36 hours of unit orientation and required non-billable training modules
• Maintain patient ratios of 1:3-4 for postpartum and 1:1-2 for labor patients
• Adhere to isolation precautions/PPE protocols and provide vaccine administration
• Work 2 out of 3 major holidays as required
• Complete required compliance documentation and maintain valid nursing licensure
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
