Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - NICU to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Fullerton, CA. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct patient care in Level 3 NICU for neonates ranging from 23 weeks to term infants • Maintain patient ratios of 1:3 as required • Attend high risk deliveries and respond to urgent calls as part of delivery team • Perform comprehensive neonatal assessments and APGAR scoring • Monitor and manage various respiratory modalities including ventilators, CPAP, high frequency ventilation, and nitric oxide • Administer medications including antibiotics, antivirals, anti-seizure medications, IV vasopressors, surfactants, and steroids • Start and maintain IVs, manage arterial lines, UAC and UVC catheters • Perform blood glucose monitoring, phlebotomy, and administer blood products • Provide feedings via bottle, breast, and gavage methods • Place and manage oral/nasogastric/nasojejunal tubes • Implement isolation precautions and proper PPE protocols • Monitor and treat hyperbilirubinemia with phototherapy • Provide developmental care and thermoregulation support • Manage patients with neonatal abstinence syndrome and seizure disorders • Assist with lumbar punctures and ICP monitoring • Provide breastfeeding support and handle breast milk appropriately • Perform suctioning procedures for ETT and nasal passages • Manage chest tubes and provide tracheostomy care • Conduct patient and family education • Document patient care using charting systems • Float to mother baby unit as needed • Work block scheduling including weekends as required • Maintain current BLS and NRP certifications • Complete required pre-start and annual training modules • Provide minimum 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of experience • Maintain valid state licensure • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team including physicians, respiratory therapists, and social services • Adhere to facility policies and dress code requirements • Commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays as assigned
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in CA
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
