Position Summary:

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide nursing care for medical-surgical patients with oncology history
• Maintain minimum 2 years of experience with inpatient setting required
• Administer chemotherapy/biotherapy via IV, PO, or injection routes
• Manage colostomy care and wound care including wound vac procedures
• Access and manage ports, PICC lines, and peripheral line care
• Administer blood products and perform central line blood draws
• Manage heparin and insulin drips with appropriate monitoring
• Care for surgical drains and chest tubes using Emerson/Pleur-evac systems
• Provide nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management
• Implement isolation precautions and infection control measures
• Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias
• Care for patients with various diagnoses including AKI, sepsis, cancer, septic shock, malignant neoplasms, ARF, encephalopathy, and diabetic foot ulcers
• Maintain current BLS certification throughout assignment
• Pass EKG testing prior to start date
• Utilize PYXIS medication system and EPIC documentation system
• Communicate effectively using SBAR methodology
• Float to similar units and alternate care locations including ED inpatient holding
• Work night shifts with target patient ratios of 1:6
• Work every other weekend as required
• Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year)
• Accept call requirements if called off on pre-scheduled shifts
• Participate in Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team assignments
• Report to work during catastrophic events, mass casualty situations, or disasters
• Complete 24 hours of unit orientation (2 shifts)
• Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable modules pre-start and annually
• Attend monthly staff meetings
• Adhere to fatigue policy of no more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week
• Maintain valid nursing license (NC or Compact state)
• Provide two manager/supervisor references from within the past 12 months
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
