Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - NICU to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Days at a leading Hospital in Portland, OR. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide patient care in the NICU with Level 3 or 4 skills as a Registered Nurse
• Serve as Charge Nurse with responsibility for staffing unit, making patient assignments, and unit oversight
• Run multidisciplinary rounds and coordinate interdisciplinary team care
• Attend high-risk deliveries and perform neonatal resuscitation as needed
• Maintain 1:3 patient ratios for neonates and infants
• Care for premature infants >28 weeks gestation and term infants requiring medical care
• Perform ventilator management including AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP
• Manage arterial lines, central lines, UAC and UVC catheters
• Provide developmental care and thermoregulation for neonatal patients
• Administer medications including antibiotics, antivirals, vasopressors, steroids, and surfactants
• Support breastfeeding and handle breast milk appropriately
• Monitor and treat hyperbilirubinemia with phototherapy
• Manage neonatal abstinence syndrome and respiratory distress syndrome
• Perform phlebotomy and blood glucose monitoring
• Place and manage oral/nasogastric/nasojejunal tubes
• Provide patient and family teaching
• Document patient care using Epic charting system
• Float to maternity and MBU units as needed
• Float between sister facilities and affiliate hospitals as required
• Work variable and rotating schedules including weekends
• Provide standby on-call coverage when not needed on unit
• Work every 3rd weekend for both days and nights
• Complete required pre-start and annual training modules
• Maintain current BLS and NRP certifications
• Maintain valid state licensure
• Provide 2 supervisory references covering 1 year within comparable specialty
• Self-report time spent on non-billable training modules
• Use facility-provided communication devices when required
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in OR
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
