Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Med Surg to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 4x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Wilmington, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct patient care for medical-surgical patients with oncology history maintaining 1:6 patient ratios
• Administer chemotherapy/biotherapy via IV, PO, or injection routes
• Manage various medical conditions including AKI, sepsis, cancer, septic shock, pain management, malignant neoplasms, ARF, encephalopathy, and diabetic complications
• Perform colostomy care, access and manage ports, administer blood products, and manage central lines
• Handle PICC line management, heparin and insulin administration, surgical drains, and chest tube management
• Provide non-invasive airway management, nasal cannula oxygen therapy, and maintain isolation precautions
• Perform comprehensive wound care including wound vac management
• Utilize EPIC documentation system, PYXIS medication system, and SBAR communication protocols
• Float to similar units and alternate care locations including inpatient holding in ED as needed
• Work night shifts with every other weekend requirement and 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Participate in Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team assignments during catastrophic events
• Complete make-up shifts for any called-out scheduled shifts
• Attend mandatory monthly staff meetings
• Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable modules pre-start and annually
• Maintain current BLS certification and work toward oncology certification
• Pass EKG testing prior to start and demonstrate competency in dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Adhere to facility fatigue policy of no more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week
• Complete lab testing and compliance requirements within 48 hours of contract signing
• Maintain professional appearance according to navy blue and white scrub requirements
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
