Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Med Surg Oncology to join our growing clinician community. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide registered nursing care for medical surgical patients with oncology history
• Maintain patient ratios of 1:6 on night shifts
• Administer chemotherapy and biotherapy via IV, PO, or injection routes
• Perform colostomy care and wound care including wound vac management
• Access and manage ports, PICC lines, and central lines for blood draws
• Administer blood products and manage peripheral line care
• Monitor and manage patients on heparin and insulin drips
• Provide care for surgical drains and chest tubes using Emerson/Pleur-evac systems
• Manage nasal cannula and non-invasive airway interventions
• Implement isolation precautions as required
• Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias
• Document patient care using Epic charting system
• Utilize PYXIS medication dispensing system
• Float to similar units and alternate care locations including ED inpatient holding
• Work every other weekend as scheduled
• Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year)
• Participate in Storm Team and Hurricane Team assignments
• Report to work during catastrophic events, mass casualties, or disasters
• Accept call requirements if called off on pre-scheduled shifts
• Reschedule makeup shifts for any called-out shifts
• Attend monthly staff meetings
• Complete 24-hour unit orientation over 2 shifts
• Pass EKG testing prior to start date
• Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable modules pre-start and annually
• Maintain BLS certification throughout assignment
• Adhere to fatigue policy of no more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week
• Provide care for patients with diagnoses including AKI, sepsis, cancer, malignant neoplasms, diabetic complications, and encephalopathy
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
