Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Med Surg Oncology to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Wilmington, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide nursing care for medical-surgical patients with oncology history in an inpatient setting
• Administer chemotherapy and biotherapy via IV, PO, or injection routes
• Manage patients with colostomy care, accessing ports, and PICC line management
• Administer blood products and perform central line blood draws
• Provide peripheral line care and management
• Manage patients requiring heparin and insulin administration
• Care for patients with surgical drains and chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac)
• Provide nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management
• Implement isolation precautions as required
• Perform wound care and wound vac management
• Maintain target nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:6
• Float to similar units and alternate care locations including inpatient holding in the ED
• Work every other weekend as required
• Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year)
• Participate in Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team assignments
• Report to work during catastrophic events, mass casualty situations, or disasters
• Document patient care using EPIC charting system
• Use PYXIS medication system and SBAR communication
• Complete 24 hours (2 shifts) of unit orientation
• Pass EKG testing prior to start date
• Maintain current BLS certification
• Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable modules pre-start and annually
• Attend monthly staff meetings
• Make up any shifts that were called out
• Adhere to fatigue policy of no more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week
• Provide call coverage if called off on a pre-scheduled shift
• Care for patients with diagnoses including AKI, sepsis, cancer, malignant neoplasms, encephalopathy, and diabetic complications
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
