Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Med Surg to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 4x12 Days at a leading Hospital in Wilmington, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide comprehensive medical-surgical nursing care to patients with ratios of 1:6-7
• Manage complex patient conditions including traumatic brain injuries, spine injuries, orthopedic trauma, and neurological conditions
• Administer and monitor heparin drips and other medication drips
• Perform blood product administration with appropriate monitoring
• Provide central line care and management including PICC lines
• Manage peripheral line care and perform IV starts and phlebotomy
• Provide colostomy care and feeding tube care and management
• Monitor and manage patients with dysrhythmias and implement O2 protocols
• Perform non-invasive airway management and tracheostomy care
• Manage surgical drains and chest tubes using Emerson/Pleuravac systems
• Provide wound care and maintain isolation precautions with appropriate PPE
• Perform oral suctioning and manage nasal cannula oxygen delivery
• Document patient care using Epic charting system
• Float to similar units and alternate care locations as needed
• Work every other weekend and 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Complete 12-hour unit orientation and 16-hour organizational education
• Complete required pre-start and annual training modules (8-10 hours for acute care)
• Pass EKG testing prior to assignment start
• Maintain current BLS certification
• Participate in Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team assignments during catastrophic events
• Adhere to fatigue policy of no more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week
• Comply with all unit policies, procedures, and dress code requirements
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
