Position Summary:

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct patient care in medical surgical and telemetry units
• Monitor patients with 1:5-6 ratios during day shifts and 1:6-7 ratios during nights and weekends
• Maintain current BLS certification
• Perform telemetry monitoring and interpret dysrhythmias
• Manage IV insulin protocols and administer blood products
• Provide colostomy care and feeding tube care and management
• Perform pre/post hemodialysis management
• Draw blood from central lines and manage peripheral line care
• Perform phlebotomy and PICC line management
• Start IVs and manage heparin administration
• Monitor and manage PCA pumps
• Care for patients with chest tubes using Emerson/Pleuravac systems
• Provide respiratory support including CPAP/BiPAP and High Flow Nasal Cannula
• Manage oxygen delivery systems and portable oxygen tanks
• Perform oral suctioning and non-invasive airway management
• Implement isolation precautions for COVID patients
• Provide wound care and wound vac management
• Use rapid response teams when appropriate
• Document patient care using Epic charting system
• Float between units within the hospital and to affiliate hospitals as needed
• Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year)
• Complete 12-16 weekend shifts per contract
• Participate in Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team assignments
• Report to work during catastrophic events, mass casualty situations, or disasters
• Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable training modules pre-start and annually
• Attend hospital orientation classes during the first week
• Complete 24 hours of unit orientation
• Pass EKG testing prior to start date
• Comply with fatigue policy restrictions of no more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week
• Maintain valid RN license (North Carolina or Compact State)
• Provide two manager/supervisor references from within the past 12 months
• Complete required compliance testing within 48 hours of signing contract
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
