Skills Required
- Experience in both Labor and Delivery and Couplet Care
- IV Start
- Circulate for C-Section deliveries
- Telemetry
- Fetal monitoring using external and internal methods
- Administer blood and blood products
- Drawing Venous Blood
- Starting and maintaining Peripheral IVs
- Use and monitoring of infusion pumps/drips
- Pain assessment and management including epidural and general anesthesia
- Assisting with sterile vaginal exams and triage of obstetrical patients
- Assisting with high risk and vaginal deliveries
- Recovery of C-Section patients in PACU
- Performing neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR scoring
- Education for parents on circumcision care, car seat safety and discharge teaching
- Postpartum care and procedures, including episiotomy care and fundal checks
- Recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
- Implementation of breastfeeding support and baby-friendly protocols
Desired Skills
- ACLS certification preferred
- AWHONN Advanced certification preferred
- Experience in triage is a plus
