Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - PCU to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Days at a leading Hospital in Mission Hills, CA. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide nursing care for adult and geriatric patients in the Progressive Care Unit with 1:3 patient ratios • Administer blood products and manage IV insulin protocols • Care for ventilated patients and provide tracheostomy care/management • Manage chest tubes using Emerson/PleurEvac systems • Provide care for patients with CVA, traumatic brain injury, sepsis, MI, stroke, CHF, and post-operative open heart patients • Administer oxygen therapy including nasal cannula, external CPAP/BIPAP, and high flow nasal cannula • Interpret arterial blood gases and cardiac dysrhythmias • Manage cardiac and vasoactive drips without titration • Monitor patients on telemetry with both unit-based and remote monitoring • Provide pre and post hemodialysis patient management • Perform wound care and manage wound vacs • Manage peripheral lines, PICC lines, and start/maintain IVs • Administer PCA medications and manage feeding tubes • Assist with special procedures including intubation, extubation, and EGD • Implement isolation precautions as required • Utilize rapid response and code teams when necessary • Document patient care using Epic charting system • Float between facilities within skillset as assigned • Work every other weekend and commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays • Maintain current ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and LA City Fire Card certifications • Complete required training modules pre-start and annually • Provide two supervisory references covering one year of experience within the last three years • Maintain valid California RN license • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and social services
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in CA
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
