Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - L&D to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Eureka, CA. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide comprehensive nursing care for Labor and Delivery patients including high-risk obstetric cases • Circulate during cesarean sections and assist with surgical procedures • Perform antepartum and postpartum patient care including fundus, lochia, and perineum assessments • Conduct newborn assessments and provide neonatal care including cord care and thermoregulation • Administer medications including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and anticoagulants as prescribed • Monitor and interpret fetal heart rate patterns using external and internal fetal monitoring • Assist with vaginal deliveries, forceps/vacuum extractions, and emergency procedures • Provide breastfeeding support and lactation assistance to new mothers • Perform triage of obstetrical patients and conduct non-stress tests • Start and maintain IVs, insert and manage Foley catheters • Document patient care using Epic charting system • Provide discharge teaching to parents including newborn care and car seat education • Float between sister facilities and affiliate hospitals as needed • Maintain current ACLS, BLS, and NRP certifications • Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year) • Complete required pre-start and annual training modules • Provide minimum of 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within comparable specialty • Maintain valid state licensure and submit copies of required certifications • Adhere to facility dress code requiring solid color scrubs • Utilize facility-provided communication devices when required for patient care
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in CA
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
