Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Med Surg Oncology to join our growing clinician community. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct patient care for medical-surgical patients with oncology history in an inpatient setting
• Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of approximately 1:6 during night shifts
• Administer chemotherapy and biotherapy via IV, PO, or injection routes
• Perform colostomy care and wound care including wound vacuum management
• Access and manage ports, PICC lines, and central lines including blood draws
• Administer blood products and monitor patients during transfusions
• Manage peripheral lines and provide general line care
• Administer heparin and insulin drips with appropriate monitoring
• Care for patients with surgical drains and chest tubes using Emerson/Pleur-evac systems
• Provide oxygen administration via nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management
• Implement and maintain isolation precautions as required
• Document patient care using Epic charting system
• Float to similar units and alternate care locations including inpatient holding in the ED
• Work every other weekend as scheduled
• Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year)
• Participate in Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team assignments
• Report to work during catastrophic events, mass casualty situations, or disasters
• Complete 24 hours of unit orientation over 2 shifts
• Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable modules pre-start and annually
• Attend monthly staff meetings
• Pass EKG testing prior to start date
• Maintain current BLS certification
• Adhere to fatigue policy of no more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week
• Complete lab testing within 48 hours of contract signing
• Make up any called-out shifts as rescheduled
• Provide care for patients with diagnoses including AKI, sepsis, cancer, septic shock, malignant neoplasms, ARF, encephalopathy, and diabetic complications
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
