Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Med Surg to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Wilmington, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct patient care in Medical/Surgical unit with 1:5-6 patient ratios during 12-hour night shifts
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms using telemetry equipment and manage dysrhythmias
• Administer medications including IV insulin protocols, heparin, and PCA management
• Perform blood product administration and central line blood draws
• Manage peripheral lines, PICC lines, and start/maintain IVs
• Provide colostomy care, feeding tube care and management, and tracheostomy management
• Monitor patients requiring CPAP/BiPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and oxygen administration
• Perform wound care including wound vac management and surgical drain care
• Provide pre/post hemodialysis management and care for patients with renal failure
• Manage chest tubes using Emerson/Pleuravac systems
• Implement isolation precautions for COVID and other infectious patients
• Perform oral suctioning and non-invasive airway management
• Conduct phlebotomy and access ports as needed
• Interpret arterial blood gases and provide post-procedural care
• Utilize rapid response teams and participate in code situations
• Document patient care using Epic charting system
• Float between units and affiliate hospitals as assigned based on census needs
• Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year)
• Complete 12-16 weekend shifts per contract period
• Participate in Storm Team/Hurricane Team assignments during catastrophic events
• Complete 24 hours of unit orientation and required hospital orientation
• Pass EKG testing prior to assignment start
• Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable training modules pre-start and annually
• Maintain current BLS certification and required state licensure
• Adhere to fatigue policy of no more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week
• Follow facility dress code requirements wearing navy/white scrubs
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
