Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Med Surg to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Wilmington, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide nursing care for medical-surgical patients with a focus on neurological conditions • Maintain patient ratios of 1:6 on day, night, and weekend shifts • Utilize Epic documentation system and Pyxis medication management system • Maintain current ACLS and BLS certifications • Complete EKG testing prior to start and demonstrate interpretation of dysrhythmias • Manage patients with cerebrovascular accidents (CVA) and other neurological diagnoses • Provide telemetry monitoring and management of dysrhythmias • Perform peripheral line care, start and maintain IVs, and manage non-invasive airway support • Float to other units within the hospital or affiliate facilities based on census and skill set • Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year) • Complete 24-hour unit orientation program • Work 5-6 weekend shifts per contract (every other weekend) • Demonstrate teamwork approach to patient care and focus on patient safety • Utilize SBAR communication framework with interdisciplinary team • Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable modules pre-start and annually • Adhere to fatigue policy of no more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week • Report for Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team assignments during catastrophic events • Maintain valid NC or Compact state nursing license • Provide two manager/supervisor references from within the past 12 months • Complete compliance testing within 48 hours of contract signing • Work with interdisciplinary support teams including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and rapid response teams • Care for adult and geriatric patient populations in a 24-bed neurological unit • Participate in charge nurse responsibilities when required • Maintain isolation precautions and infection control protocols
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
