Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - L&D to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Days at a leading Hospital in Eureka, CA. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide labor and delivery nursing care for antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patients • Care for neonates, infants, and adult patients in obstetric settings • Perform comprehensive newborn assessments and provide newborn care • Assist with vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections • Circulate for cesarean sections and recover post-operative patients • Monitor and interpret fetal heart rate patterns using external and internal fetal monitoring • Administer medications including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and pain management therapies • Perform sterile vaginal examinations and assess cervical changes • Provide breastfeeding support and lactation assistance • Conduct non-stress tests (NST) and assist with high-risk deliveries • Manage epidural anesthesia patients and provide appropriate monitoring • Provide couplet care for mother-baby dyads • Administer blood products and manage anticoagulant therapy when required • Perform triage of obstetrical patients and prioritize care needs • Use Epic charting system for accurate documentation • Float between sister facilities and affiliate hospitals as needed • Work every other weekend and be available for on-call duties • Maintain current ACLS, BLS, and NRP certifications • Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year) • Complete 40 hours of orientation and required training modules • Provide discharge teaching to new parents including car seat education • Manage patients with pregnancy-induced hypertension and other high-risk conditions • Assist with multiple births and provide specialized care as needed • Maintain patient ratios of 1-3 patients depending on acuity • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team including physicians, respiratory therapy, and social services
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in CA
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
