Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - L&D to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Days at a leading Hospital in Eureka, CA. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide labor and delivery nursing care including antepartum, labor, delivery, and postpartum care • Perform newborn assessments and provide neonatal care • Assist with vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections, including circulating for C-sections • Monitor and interpret fetal heart rate patterns using external and internal fetal monitoring • Administer medications including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and epidural anesthesia support • Conduct sterile vaginal exams and assist with high-risk deliveries • Provide breastfeeding support and lactation education to new mothers • Perform triage of obstetrical patients and assess pregnancy-related complications • Document patient care using Epic charting system • Start and maintain IVs, manage central lines, and administer blood products • Educate patients on discharge teaching, car seat safety, and newborn care • Float between sister facilities and affiliate hospitals as needed • Work every other weekend and 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year) • Maintain current ACLS, BLS, and NRP certifications • Complete required training modules pre-start and annually • Provide minimum of 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment in comparable specialty • Maintain valid California RN license • Care for culturally diverse patient population including high-risk obstetrical cases • Utilize facility-provided communication devices when required • Adhere to facility policies and procedures for patient safety and care delivery
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in CA
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
