Position Summary:

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct patient care in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) for cardiac patients with ratios varying per acuity (1:4 for surgical step down, 1:5-6 for lower acuity) • Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and dysrhythmias using telemetry equipment • Manage cardiac drips including titration as required • Perform pre and post cardiac catheterization care including sheath removal • Provide care for patients with various cardiac diagnoses including atrial fibrillation, CHF, ACS, CAD, and cardiomyopathy • Manage patients following cardiac procedures such as CABG, AVR, MVR, TAVR, and pacemaker placements • Operate specialized equipment including arterial lines, Doppler, bladder scanner, EKG, femoral sheaths, and chest tubes • Provide non-invasive airway management including CPAP/BIPAP and nasal cannula • Maintain current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications • Complete required pre-start and annual training modules (8-10 hours for acute care roles) • Document patient care using Epic charting system • Float between units within the hospital or to affiliate hospitals as needed based on census and skill set • Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year) • Work 4 weekend shifts per 4-week period • Participate in Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team assignments during catastrophic events • Pass required EKG testing prior to start • Maintain valid nursing license (NC or Compact state) • Provide two supervisory references from within the past 12 months • Adhere to fatigue policy of no more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week • Complete all compliance testing within 48 hours of contract signing • Follow unit rotation schedule and facility policies regarding time off requests
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
