Position Summary:

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide nursing care for medical-surgical patients with a 1:6 patient ratio
• Care for patients with bariatric surgery, abdominal surgery, and medical conditions
• Maintain current ACLS and BLS certifications
• Utilize Epic charting system for patient documentation
• Manage patients with various conditions including thyroidectomy, bariatric surgery, bowel obstruction, colostomy/ileostomy care, and feeding tube management
• Perform continuous bladder irrigation (CBI) and pre/post hemodialysis management
• Administer blood products and manage central line blood draws
• Provide peripheral line care, phlebotomy, and PICC line management
• Start and maintain IVs, administer heparin, insulin, and PCA
• Care for patients with CVA, mood disorders, substance withdrawal, and orthopedic trauma
• Manage total joint replacement patients and surgical drains
• Provide chest tube care using Emerson/PleurEvac systems
• Manage BiPAP/CPAP and high flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
• Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and provide oxygen administration
• Perform tracheostomy care and non-invasive airway management
• Implement isolation precautions and PPE protocols
• Provide wound care and wound vacuum management
• Float between medical-surgical/telemetry, medical-surgical oncology, palliative medicine, and orthopedic units
• Work 5-6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
• Complete required modules and training programs pre-start and annually
• Work 3 out of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• Provide minimum of 2 supervisory references covering 1 year within the last 3 years
• Maintain compact nursing license
• Adhere to dress code requiring solid navy blue scrubs for licensed personnel
• Complete 40 hours of orientation
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and rapid response teams
• Manage discharge team patients during day shift
• Transfer patients to TCU within 60-minute goal timeframe
• Self-report time spent on non-billable training modules
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in TX
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
