Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - PACU to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 4x10 Days at a leading Hospital in Fullerton, CA. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide post-anesthesia care for patients recovering from various surgical procedures including general surgery, orthopedic surgery, neurosurgery, gynecologic surgery, urologic surgery, cardiovascular surgery/procedures, GI surgery/procedures, ENT surgery, thoracic/abdominal surgery, vascular surgery, plastic surgery, and miscellaneous procedures with general anesthesia • Maintain 1:2 patient ratios in PACU setting • Perform airway assessment and manage care of ventilated patients • Manage arterial lines and IV vasopressors • Provide dysrhythmia recognition and management • Administer narcotics/opioid analgesics and reversal agents as needed • Provide Phase I PACU and Phase II Recovery care • Perform post catheterization lab procedure care • Manage patients with AV fistulas/shunts • Provide care for patients undergoing carotid endarterectomy, cholecystectomy, colon surgery, hysterectomy, pacemaker insertion, tonsillectomy, vascular surgery, and Whipple procedures • Perform patient triage functions • Care for patients across all age groups including adolescents, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team including physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretary • Handle daily census of approximately 40 patients with 40 visits per day in 17-bed unit • Maintain current ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and PALS certifications • Utilize Meditech and Epic charting systems for documentation • Float between sister facilities and affiliate hospitals as needed throughout the state • Complete required modules and training programs pre-start and annually • Work 3 out of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day) • Provide minimum of 2 supervisory references covering 1 year within last 3 years • Maintain valid California RN licensure • Complete 12-hour orientation program • Utilize facility-provided communication devices when required for assignment duties • Self-report time spent on non-billable training modules
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in CA
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
