Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - L&D to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Rotating at a leading Hospital in Kodiak, AK. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide patient care services as Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse
- Maintain current BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate certifications
- Work 3x12 hour variable shifts (either straight days or straight nights based on staffing needs)
- Provide LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum) nursing care
- Work weekends as required
- Float within hospital or to affiliate hospitals nearby to meet facility needs
- Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year)
- Utilize Epic charting system for documentation
- Perform labor and delivery nursing skills including vaginal delivery assistance, cesarean section care, and newborn assessment
- Provide couplet care for mothers and infants
- Monitor fetal heart rate patterns and use external/internal fetal monitoring
- Administer medications including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate therapy, and epidural anesthesia support
- Provide breastfeeding support and lactation assistance
- Conduct discharge teaching to parents
- Perform newborn care including cord care, thermoregulation, and vaccine administration
- Manage obstetrical emergencies including postpartum hemorrhage and pregnancy-induced hypertension
- Triage obstetrical patients effectively
- Complete required modules and training programs pre-start and annually
- Maintain valid state RN licensure
- Provide minimum of 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within comparable specialty/setting
- Complete required compliance documentation and certifications
- Self-report time spent on non-billable training modules
- Use facility-provided communication devices when required for assignment duties
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in AK
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
