Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - L&D to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Rotating at a leading Hospital in Kodiak, AK. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide comprehensive Labor & Delivery nursing care in LDRP setting
• Maintain current BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate certifications
• Work variable 3x12 shifts (either straight days or straight nights based on staffing needs)
• Provide direct patient care with 1:1 patient ratios for both days and nights
• Care for diverse patient age groups including neonates, infants, adolescents, and adults
• Assist with vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, and high-risk deliveries
• Perform comprehensive newborn assessments and provide couplet care
• Monitor and interpret fetal heart rate patterns using external and internal fetal monitoring
• Administer medications including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives
• Manage epidural anesthesia and pain assessment for laboring patients
• Provide breastfeeding support and lactation education to new mothers
• Conduct triage of obstetrical patients and manage emergency situations
• Perform sterile vaginal exams and assist with episiotomy care
• Manage postpartum hemorrhage and pregnancy-induced hypertension
• Provide discharge teaching to parents and car seat education
• Utilize Epic charting system for comprehensive documentation
• Float within the hospital and to affiliate hospitals as needed
• Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year)
• Complete required pre-start and annual training modules
• Provide minimum of 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment in comparable specialty
• Maintain valid state RN licensure
• Use facility-provided communication devices when required for assignments
• Self-report time spent on non-billable training modules
• Adhere to all facility policies and procedures for patient care delivery
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in AK
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
