Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - L&D to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 4x12 Rotating at a leading Hospital in Kodiak, AK. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide nursing care for Labor and Delivery patients in LDRP setting
• Maintain current BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate certifications
• Work 4x12 variable shifts (either straight days or straight nights)
• Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year)
• Utilize Epic charting system for patient documentation
• Float within the hospital or to affiliate hospitals nearby as needed
• Provide couplet care with 1:1 patient ratios
• Assist with vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, and high-risk deliveries
• Perform newborn assessments and provide infant identification
• Administer medications including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate therapy, and antihypertensives
• Monitor fetal heart rate patterns using external and internal fetal monitoring
• Provide breastfeeding support and lactation assistance
• Conduct discharge teaching to parents including car seat education
• Manage postpartum hemorrhage and pregnancy-induced hypertension
• Perform sterile vaginal exams and fundus/lochia/perineum care
• Start and maintain IVs and manage infusion pumps
• Triage obstetrical patients and assess APGAR scores
• Complete required modules and training programs pre-start and annually
• Provide minimum of 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within comparable specialty
• Self-report time spent on non-billable training modules
• Use facility-provided communication devices when required for patient care
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in AK
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
