Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - NICU to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Rotating at a leading Hospital in Portland, OR. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide comprehensive nursing care for neonatal patients in Level 3 or 4 NICU setting
• Serve as Charge RN with responsibilities for unit staffing, patient assignments, and unit oversight
• Attend high-risk deliveries and provide neonatal resuscitation services
• Run multidisciplinary rounds and coordinate patient care
• Maintain 1:3 patient ratios for neonates and infants
• Utilize Epic charting system for comprehensive patient documentation
• Float between units including maternity and MBU as needed based on census and skill set
• Float to sister facilities and affiliate hospitals as required
• Manage complex neonatal conditions including premature infants >28 weeks gestation
• Provide specialized care including ventilator management, central line care, and umbilical catheter management
• Administer medications including antibiotics, antivirals, IV vasopressors, and surfactants
• Monitor and manage neonatal abstinence syndrome and respiratory distress syndrome
• Provide breastfeeding support and handle breast milk safely
• Perform developmental care and thermoregulation for neonatal patients
• Conduct patient and family teaching
• Work variable and rotating schedules including weekends (every 3rd weekend)
• Be available for standby on-call when not needed on unit
• Work 3 out of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• Maintain current BLS and NRP certifications
• Complete required pre-start and annual training modules
• Provide 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of experience
• Utilize facility-provided communication devices when required
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team including IV teams, respiratory services, physical therapy, and social services
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in OR
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
