Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Med Surg Tele to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Lubbock, TX. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct patient care in Med Surg Telemetry unit with 1:6 patient ratios
• Care for adult patients with orthopedic trauma conditions including MVAs, fractures, amputations, industrial accidents, gunshot wounds, cellulitis, and joint replacement surgery
• Perform post-operative care management for surgical patients
• Administer blood products and perform phlebotomy
• Manage wound care and wound vacuum systems
• Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias
• Provide peripheral line care and management
• Administer oxygen therapy including nasal cannula, oxygen tanks, and high flow nasal cannula
• Perform non-invasive airway management
• Maintain isolation precautions as required
• Care for patients with orthopedic trauma including peripheral nerve block catheters, total joint replacements, and traction
• Operate special equipment including wound vacs, Buck's traction, CPMS, and high flow oxygen
• Utilize Epic charting system for patient documentation
• Participate in Rapid Response and Code team activities
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Radiology, Social Services, Pharmacy, and other support services
• Work weekend shifts as needed according to unit requirements
• Float between sister facilities and affiliate hospitals as required
• Complete 12 hours of orientation and ongoing training modules
• Maintain current BLS certification
• Provide prevention of pressure injuries
• Perform patient lifting and transfers
• Work 3 out of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• Complete required pre-start and annual training modules
• Maintain valid compact nursing license
• Adhere to facility dress code requiring solid navy blue scrubs for licensed personnel
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in TX
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
