Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - ICU to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Charlotte, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide comprehensive nursing care in the Neuro Intensive Care Unit with 2 years minimum experience required
• Manage ventilated patients including care and monitoring
• Perform IV starts and manage central line care
• Administer blood products and manage continuous IV sedation
• Provide specialized care for stroke patients (ischemic and hemorrhagic), including CVA/Acute Stroke management
• Monitor and manage patients with external ventricular drains (EVD) and lumbar drains
• Perform ICP monitoring and post neurosurgery patient management
• Care for patients post craniotomy and manage post neurosurgery complications
• Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias
• Maintain isolation precautions and proper use of PPE
• Manage arterial lines and hemodynamic monitoring
• Utilize Epic charting system for patient documentation
• Operate specialized equipment including EVD, Lumbar Drains, Camino, LICOX, NICOM, and Arctic Sun
• Maintain current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Pass EKG testing prior to assignment start
• Work 12-hour night shifts from 18:45 to 07:15
• Maintain patient ratios of 2:1, flexible up to 3:1 during high census periods
• Float between units within the hospital and to affiliate hospitals as needed
• Work every other weekend as required
• Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year)
• Complete 24 hours of unit orientation
• Complete required pre-start and annual training modules (8-10 hours for acute care roles)
• Adhere to facility dress code requirements (navy blue and white scrubs)
• Maintain valid NC or Compact state licensure
• Provide two manager/supervisor references from the past 12 months
• Complete compliance testing within 48 hours of assignment signing
• Comply with fatigue policy limiting work to maximum 5 consecutive days and 60 hours per week
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
