Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - CVICU to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Charlotte, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct nursing care to cardiovascular intensive care unit (CVICU) patients
• Manage immediate post-operative recovery for open heart surgery patients coming directly from the OR
• Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias and multi-system organ failure
• Operate and monitor specialized cardiac equipment including Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps, Impella devices, and ventricular assist devices (LVAD/RVAD)
• Perform pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring and continuous cardiac output monitoring
• Manage CVVHD/CRRT for patients with renal complications
• Provide arterial line management and central line care
• Administer blood products and manage continuous IV sedation
• Titrate cardiac drips and vasoactive medications including vasopressors and inotropes
• Care for ventilated patients and perform ventilator management
• Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs)
• Assist with chest tube insertion and removal, and provide ongoing chest tube care
• Manage epicardial pacemakers and temporary pacing wires
• Maintain isolation precautions and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Document patient care using Epic charting system
• Maintain current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Float to all critical care and cardiac step-down units as needed
• Respond to call requirements within 30 minutes
• Work minimum of 4 weekend call shifts per 6-week schedule period
• Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year)
• Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable training modules pre-start and annually
• Adhere to fatigue policy of no more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week
• Provide care for patients with CABG, valve repairs/replacements, and cardiac dissections
• Complete lab testing and compliance requirements within 48 hours of contract signing
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
