Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Med Surg to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Lubbock, TX. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide nursing care for adult and geriatric patients in medical surgical and acute care surgery settings
• Maintain patient ratios of approximately 4.5-5 patients per nurse
• Utilize Epic charting system for patient documentation
• Float between acute care and medical surgical units as required
• Work weekend shifts as scheduled (6 weekend shifts per 6-week period)
• Commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• Maintain current ACLS and BLS certifications
• Provide care for patients with various diagnoses including acute care surgery, emergency general surgery, and medical surgical overflow
• Manage specialized equipment and procedures including chest tubes, BiPAP/CPAP, wound vac, and central lines
• Administer blood products and manage IV therapy including PICC lines
• Provide pre and post-operative care for various surgical procedures
• Manage tracheostomy care, feeding tubes, and surgical drains
• Participate in rapid response and code team activities
• Maintain valid state nursing license (compact license required)
• Complete required training modules pre-start and annually
• Provide 2 supervisory references covering 1 year within last 3 years
• Comply with facility dress code requirements (solid navy blue scrubs for licensed personnel)
• Float between sister facilities and affiliate hospitals as needed
• Utilize facility-provided communication devices when required
• Self-report time spent on non-billable training modules
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in TX
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
