Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate Phlebotomist - Phlebotomist / Laboratory to join our growing clinician community. Key Responsibilities:
• Perform phlebotomy services drawing blood from patients across all hospital units including ICU and ER • Provide blood collection services for patients ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics with daily patient load of 60-100 • Execute various blood collection methods including syringe method and vacutainer method • Perform pediatric finger and heel sticks • Provide proper post venipuncture site care • Handle and process specimens including centrifuging and aliquoting of body fluids • Ensure proper specimen storage, labeling, and disposal according to protocols • Manage specialized specimen handling including chilled specimens, microbiological specimens, and specimens requiring protection from light • Deliver specimens to laboratory within required timeframes • Maintain aseptic technique throughout all procedures • Perform data entry and documentation using Epic charting system • Complete general specimen processing tasks with knowledge of reference labs • Float between hospital units and affiliate facilities as required • Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year) • Complete required pre-start and annual training modules • Maintain current BLS and CPT I certifications • Provide minimum of 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within comparable specialty/setting • Self-report time spent on non-billable training modules • Utilize facility-provided communication devices when required for assignment duties
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in CA
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
