Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant - Medical Assistant to join our growing clinician community. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide patient care services as a Medical Assistant in adult med/surg unit • Maintain current BLS certification • Complete required modules and training programs pre-start and annually • Work 3 out of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day) • Utilize Epic charting system for documentation • Float between sister facilities and affiliate hospitals as needed • May be required to float as helping hands/constant observer to other departments • Maintain patient ratios of 1:7 during days and 1:11 during nights • May be placed on call due to low census • Work every other weekend as required • Provide care for adults and geriatric patients • Perform foot care, assist with crutches and oxygen tanks • Provide acute care and 1:1 sitter services • Assist with patient ambulation, feeding, turning and repositioning • Perform bed shampoo and change linens (occupied and unoccupied) • Complete bed baths and provide pressure injury prevention • Manage urine/stool incontinence care and provide mouth care • Provide perineal care for male/female patients and assist with shaving • Assist with shower and provide comprehensive skin care • Apply antiembolic stockings and manage bed alarms • Assist with bedpan/urinal use and bedside commode • Operate call lights and electronic vital sign equipment • Use glucometer and provide heel and elbow protection • Operate hospital beds/specialty beds and Hoyer lift • Monitor pulse oximetry and sequential compression devices • Manage special beds/air mattresses and stretchers • Use transfer belts and sliding boards for patient mobility • Assist with wheelchair transfers and don/remove PPE • Follow isolation precautions and PPE protocols • Perform glucose point of care testing • Measure and record patient weight • Obtain blood pressure including orthostatic measurements • Monitor patient respirations and obtain pulse (radial) • Take temperature (oral, rectal, axillary, tympanic) • Provide routine catheter care for indwelling and external catheters • Turn and position patients as needed • Collect urine specimens and monitor abnormal/normal vital sign parameters • Monitor fluid restrictions and manage inventory/disposition of belongings • Use proper body mechanics for lifting and pulling • Understand NPO status and perform safe patient transfers • Stock supplies and assist with bathing/hygiene • Monitor diet intake/calorie count and report changes in patient condition • Measure and record urine output • Provide minimum of 2 supervisory references covering 6 months of employment • Complete required compliance documentation and certifications • Perform duties using facility-provided communication devices when required • Self-report time spent on non-billable training modules • Have reliable transportation for assignment requirements
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in OR
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
