Position Summary:

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide psychiatric nursing care to adult patients on inpatient locked unit
• Maintain current BLS certification
• Manage patient ratios of up to 8 patients during night shifts
• Utilize Epic charting system for documentation
• Administer medications including antianxiety, antidepressants, antipsychotics, and mood stabilizers
• Implement behavior management techniques and de-escalation strategies
• Provide crisis intervention for patients experiencing psychiatric emergencies
• Monitor and manage patients with anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, depression, and psychotic disorders
• Handle suicidal and self-injurious behaviors according to safety protocols
• Implement seclusion protocols and procedures when necessary
• Perform blood glucose monitoring and interpret lab values
• Manage Foley catheters and NG tube insertion/management
• Provide oral and nasotracheal suctioning as needed
• Start and maintain IVs
• Work with patients experiencing substance use disorders
• Handle voluntary and involuntary commitment procedures
• Float to Med/Surg units when not needed in psychiatry
• Work night shifts (1900-0700) on a 3x12 schedule
• Work every other weekend and required holidays
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team including physical therapy, respiratory services, social services, and pharmacy
• Complete 12-hour orientation program
• Maintain valid state nursing licensure
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in IL
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
