Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - PCU to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Winston Salem, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct patient care for adults and geriatrics in a mixed acuity PCU/Progressive Care Unit setting
• Maintain 1:4-5 patient ratio with mixed acuity PCU, Medical/Surgical, and Telemetry patients
• Care for patients with COPD, pneumonia, respiratory distress, COVID-19, flu, and pulmonary embolism
• Manage patients requiring ventilators, chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP, and telemetry monitoring
• Administer and manage cardiac drips including Dopamine, Cardizem, and Heparin protocols
• Perform IV starts and maintain peripheral and central line care/management
• Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias and telemetry monitoring
• Utilize Epic charting system for patient documentation
• Float to like units within the facility as required based on census and staffing needs
• Work 12-hour night shifts (18:45 - 07:15) with 4 weekend shifts required in 6 weeks
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory therapy, rapid response teams, and code teams
• Maintain current ACLS and BLS certifications
• Complete required pre-start and annual training modules (8-10 hours for acute care)
• Pass EKG testing prior to start and maintain competency
• Adhere to fatigue policy limiting work to 5 consecutive days and 60 hours per week
• Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year)
• Complete compliance testing within 48 hours of assignment start
• Maintain valid NC or Compact state nursing license
• Provide two supervisor references from within the past 12 months
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
