Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - PCU to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Winston Salem, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide nursing care for PCU, Telemetry, and Medical/Surgical patients with mixed acuity
• Manage patient ratios of 1:4-5, potentially up to 1:6 in extreme situations
• Care for patients with COPD, pneumonia, respiratory distress, COVID-19, FLU, and pulmonary embolism
• Perform IV starts and maintain peripheral and central line care/management
• Monitor and interpret cardiac dysrhythmias using telemetry
• Manage patients on ventilators, CPAP/BiPAP, and tracheostomies
• Provide care for patients with chest tubes using Emerson/PleurEvac systems
• Administer and manage cardiac and vasoactive drips including Dopamine, Cardizem, and Heparin
• Titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips as required
• Follow IV insulin and Heparin protocols
• Administer blood products according to facility protocols
• Maintain isolation precautions for infectious patients
• Document patient care using Epic charting system and Pyxis medication management
• Utilize SBAR communication method for patient reporting
• Float to similar units within the facility or affiliate hospitals as needed
• Work 12-hour night shifts with 4 weekend shifts required in 6 weeks
• Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year)
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory therapy, physical therapy, and pharmacy
• Utilize rapid response and code teams when necessary
• Complete 24 hours of unit orientation
• Pass EKG testing prior to start date
• Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable training modules pre-start and annually
• Maintain current ACLS and BLS certifications
• Adhere to fatigue policy of no more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week
• Follow facility dress code requiring white or navy blue scrubs
• Maintain professional teamwork approach and meet behavioral expectations
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
