Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - L&D to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Days at a leading Hospital in Eureka, CA. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide nursing care for Labor and Delivery patients including antepartum, labor, delivery, and postpartum care • Perform patient assessments and monitor vital signs for mothers and newborns • Administer medications including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate therapy, and pain management • Assist with vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections, including circulating for C-sections • Monitor and interpret fetal heart rate patterns using external and internal fetal monitoring • Provide breastfeeding support and lactation assistance to new mothers • Conduct newborn assessments and provide infant care including cord care and thermoregulation • Perform sterile vaginal exams and assist with cervical assessments • Start and maintain IVs and manage infusion pumps and drips • Provide discharge teaching to parents including car seat education and circumcision care • Document patient care using Epic charting system • Float between units within the hospital and to affiliate facilities as needed • Maintain current ACLS, BLS, and NRP certifications • Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year) • Complete required pre-start and annual training modules • Provide minimum of 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment in comparable specialty • Maintain valid state nursing license • Follow facility policies and procedures for patient care delivery • Utilize facility-provided communication devices when required for patient care duties
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in CA
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
