Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - PCU to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Days at a leading Hospital in Winston Salem, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide nursing care to PCU and med-surg/telemetry patients with mixed acuity levels
• Maintain patient ratios of 1:4-5, up to 1:6 in extreme situations
• Care for patients with COPD, pneumonia, respiratory distress, COVID-19, flu, and pulmonary embolism
• Manage ventilated patients (chronic trach/vent) with maximum one vent patient per nurse
• Administer and monitor cardiac drips including Dopamine, Cardizem, and Heparin with titration responsibilities
• Provide care for patients with chest tubes, CPAP, BiPAP, and tracheostomies
• Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias and telemetry monitoring
• Start and maintain IVs and manage peripheral and central line care
• Document patient care using Epic charting system and utilize Pyxis medication dispensing
• Float to like units within the facility and affiliate hospitals as needed
• Work 12-hour day shifts (06:45-19:15) with flexibility for 36-hour schedules
• Complete 4 weekend shifts in 6 weeks with potential for additional weekend coverage
• Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year)
• Participate in 24-hour unit orientation program
• Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable pre-start and annual training modules
• Maintain current ACLS and BLS certifications
• Pass EKG testing prior to start date
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team including respiratory therapists, vascular access team, and rapid response teams
• Adhere to facility dress code requiring white or navy blue scrubs
• Comply with fatigue policy limiting work to maximum 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week
• Demonstrate teamwork approach and meet behavioral expectations in all patient and staff interactions
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
