Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - L&D to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Days at a leading Hospital in Eureka, CA. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide comprehensive labor and delivery nursing care for patients including antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care • Monitor and assess fetal heart rate patterns using external and internal fetal monitoring equipment • Assist with vaginal deliveries and circulate for cesarean sections • Administer medications including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, epidural anesthesia, and other obstetric medications • Perform sterile vaginal examinations to assess cervical effacement, dilation, station, and fetal presentation • Provide newborn assessment and immediate postpartum care including APGAR scoring • Support breastfeeding and provide lactation education to new mothers • Manage high-risk obstetric patients including those with pregnancy-induced hypertension and hemorrhage • Utilize Epic charting system for comprehensive patient documentation • Maintain current ACLS, BLS, and NRP certifications • Provide couplet care for mother and baby including newborn identification and security banding • Triage obstetrical patients and assess urgent conditions • Start and maintain peripheral IVs and monitor infusion pumps and drips • Educate patients and families on discharge teaching, circumcision care, and car seat safety • Float between sister facilities and affiliate hospitals as needed to meet staffing requirements • Work on-call shifts and provide coverage for every other weekend • Complete required pre-start and annual training modules • Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year) • Provide minimum of 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within comparable specialty setting • Maintain valid state nursing license and complete compliance documentation
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in CA
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
