Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - L&D to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Eureka, CA. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide nursing care for labor and delivery patients, including high-risk obstetric cases and culturally diverse populations • Circulate for cesarean sections and assist with various delivery procedures • Maintain current ACLS, BLS, and NRP certifications • Utilize Epic charting system for patient documentation • Float between sister facilities and affiliate hospitals as needed • Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year) • Provide couplet care for mother and baby patients • Perform newborn assessments and provide infant care • Administer medications including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate therapy, and other obstetric medications • Monitor fetal heart rate patterns using external and internal fetal monitoring • Assist with high-risk deliveries and emergency obstetric situations • Provide breastfeeding support and lactation assistance • Conduct patient and family education including discharge teaching • Complete required training modules pre-start and annually • Maintain valid California RN license • Provide minimum of 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within comparable specialty • Perform sterile vaginal exams and assess cervical changes • Manage IV therapy and maintain peripheral IV access • Assess and manage postpartum hemorrhage and complications • Complete orientation requirements (40 hours) • Self-report time spent on non-billable training modules
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in CA
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
