Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - ICU to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Charlotte, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide neuro intensive care nursing services in a 12-hour night shift role (18:45 - 07:15)
• Manage patient ratios of 2:1, with flexibility to handle 3:1 ratios during high census periods
• Care for comprehensive stroke center patients including strokes, craniotomies, aneurysm procedures, and seizure patients
• Operate specialized neuro equipment including EVDs, Lumbar Drains, Camino, LICOX, NICOM, and Arctic Sun
• Manage ventilated patients and provide continuous IV sedation monitoring
• Administer blood products and manage central line care
• Monitor and interpret dysrhythmias and provide appropriate management
• Provide post-neurosurgery patient management and ICP monitoring
• Handle external ventricular drains (EVD) and lumbar drain management
• Manage CVA/Acute Stroke patients and arterial line monitoring
• Utilize Epic charting system, Pyxis, and SBAR communication protocols
• Float to other units within the hospital or affiliate hospitals as needed
• Work every other weekend as required
• Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year)
• Complete 24 hours of unit orientation over 2 shifts
• Pass EKG testing prior to assignment start
• Maintain current ACLS, BCLS, and NIH certifications
• Complete required pre-start and annual training modules (8-10 hours, non-billable)
• Adhere to isolation precautions and proper PPE usage
• Comply with fatigue policy limiting work to maximum 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week
• Maintain professional appearance with required navy blue and white scrubs
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems [Epic, Cerner, etc. preferred]
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
