Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - L&D to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Rotating at a leading Hospital in Santa Barbara, CA. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide comprehensive Labor and Delivery nursing care for neonates, adolescents, and adults • Maintain 1:2 patient ratios during assigned shifts • Float between Post Partum and Nursery units as required by census and staffing needs • Cross-train and work in both Mother Infant Care and Birth Center units • Accept call assignments (1 call shift per 2 weeks) • Work 5-6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule for day shifts or 7-9 weekend shifts for night shifts • Perform electronic fetal heart monitoring and recognize abnormal fetal heart rate patterns • Administer and monitor Magnesium Sulfate therapy • Administer Pitocin (oxytocin) and monitor patient response • Conduct sterile vaginal examinations to assess effacement, dilation, station, and presentation • Circulate for Cesarean sections in the operating room • Recover patients in PACU following C-sections • Provide epidural anesthesia support and pain management • Perform neonatal resuscitation and newborn care • Manage radiant warmers and thermoregulation for infants • Administer antihypertensives including Labetalol • Manage insulin drips and blood glucose monitoring • Start and maintain IV access • Administer blood and blood products • Insert and manage Foley catheters • Provide post-partum care including fundus, lochia, and perineum assessment • Support breastfeeding and lactation needs • Perform newborn procedures including heel sticks and circumcision care assistance • Manage hyperbilirubinemia and perform TCB/TSB assessments • Provide patient and family discharge instructions • Conduct car seat safety education • Utilize Epic charting system for documentation • Use Omnicell medication dispensing system • Follow SBAR communication protocols • Triage obstetrical patients effectively • Support VBAC management and trial of labor cases • Place and calibrate FSE and IUPC when preferred • Maintain current certifications in ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, BLS, and NRP • Complete 52 hours of facility orientation • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and other support services
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in CA
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
