Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant - Medical Assistant to join our growing clinician community. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct patient care services as a Medical Assistant in acute care setting
• Assist with activities of daily living including ambulation, feeding, turning, and repositioning patients
• Perform complete bed baths, bed shampoos, and personal hygiene care including perineal care
• Obtain and record vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respirations
• Monitor and document patient weight, fluid intake/output, and drain output
• Perform glucose point of care testing using glucometer
• Assist with incentive spirometry and provide routine catheter care
• Collect specimens including stool and urine samples and ensure proper labeling and transport
• Operate medical equipment including pulse oximetry, oxygen tanks, Hoyer lifts, and sequential compression devices
• Maintain patient safety through proper use of bed alarms, transfer belts, and fall prevention measures
• Document patient care activities and observations using Epic charting system
• Float between units within the hospital and to affiliate hospitals as needed
• Work weekend shifts as required (3 weekends per month)
• Maintain current BLS certification throughout assignment
• Complete required pre-start and annual training modules
• Follow isolation precautions and proper PPE protocols
• Report changes in patient condition to appropriate healthcare team members
• Stock supplies and maintain clean patient care environment
• Provide care for adult and geriatric patient populations
• Assist with wound care and drain management
• Work with patient ratios of 7:1 during day shifts and 11:1 during night shifts
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in OR
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
