Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - ICU to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Winston Salem, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide comprehensive nursing care for ICU stepdown patients with conditions including post rapid response, respiratory distress, unstable hemodynamics, withdrawal, GI bleeds, and post-operative complications
• Manage and titrate vasoactive and cardiac drips including Insulin, Cardizem, Nitro, Precedex, Cardene, Levophed, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Neo drips
• Monitor and manage arterial lines with experience in arterial line management
• Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias using bedside telemetry monitors with remote backup
• Administer blood products and manage various IV access including central lines, peripheral lines, and PICC lines
• Provide care for patients with chest tubes, tracheostomies, BIPAP, and high flow nasal cannula
• Maintain patient ratios of 3:1 or 4:1 during 12-hour night shifts
• Float between sister units and affiliate hospitals as needed, particularly to ICCU units
• Document patient care using Epic charting system
• Work every other weekend and 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year)
• Utilize rapid response teams and participate in code team activities
• Manage IV insulin protocols and heparin protocols
• Provide non-invasive airway management and tracheostomy care
• Implement and maintain isolation precautions as required
• Care for patients across age groups including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
• Complete required pre-start and annual training modules (8-10 hours for acute care)
• Maintain current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Pass EKG testing prior to assignment start
• Complete 24 hours of facility orientation including hospital orientation classes
• Adhere to fatigue policy limiting work to no more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week
• Maintain valid nursing license (NC or Compact state)
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
