Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - ICU to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Skokie, IL. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide critical care nursing services in ICU setting with focus on complex spine patients
• Maintain 2:1 patient ratio during days and nights, 3:1 on weekends
• Work night shifts (3x12 hour shifts from 19:00-07:30)
• Work every other weekend as required
• Float between MS and ICU units within the health system as needed
• Float between multiple locations including Glenbrook, Highland Park and Evanston
• Maintain current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Utilize Epic charting system for patient documentation
• Pass EKG test within first day at 84% or higher on first attempt
• Manage patients with complex medical conditions including orthopedic patients
• Perform arterial line management and central line care
• Administer blood products and manage continuous IV sedation
• Provide care for ventilated patients and manage ventilator settings
• Manage patients with BiPAP/CPAP and High Flow Nasal Cannula
• Titrate cardiac drips and manage dysrhythmias
• Interpret arterial blood gases and obtain 12-lead EKGs
• Provide post-neurosurgery management and spinal cord injury care
• Manage surgical wounds with drains and wound vac systems
• Administer procedural sedation and monitor patients
• Perform phlebotomy and IV insertion/maintenance
• Provide care for patients with multisystem organ dysfunction
• Complete 20 hours of orientation training
• Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary support teams
• Maintain infection prevention protocols and isolation precautions
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in IL
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
