Position Summary:

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide perioperative nursing care in the Operating Room setting with 1:1 patient ratios
• Work day shifts Monday through Friday (7a-3p) with every other weekend coverage
• Be available for call requirements as needed with 30-minute callback requirement
• Perform nursing care for patients undergoing general surgery, orthopedic, ophthalmic, gynecological, obstetric, and urological procedures
• Demonstrate competency in appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, laparoscopic procedures, hysterectomy, tubal ligation, C-sections, and arthroscopic surgeries
• Provide care for patients with appendicitis, bowel obstructions, cholecystitis, ureteral stones, and various surgical conditions
• Operate and maintain specialized equipment including Stryker orthopedic equipment, Olympus laparoscopic equipment, and Fugi endoscopy system
• Utilize Meditech charting system for documentation and Omnicell for medication management
• Administer blood products and perform cardiac monitoring as required
• Start peripheral IVs and perform urinary bladder catheterization
• Monitor patients receiving conscious sedation during procedures
• Follow universal protocol procedures including surgical time-outs
• Handle and label specimens according to facility protocols
• Maintain infection control and radiation safety standards
• Complete 24-hour unit orientation and ongoing competency requirements
• Maintain current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications
• Complete required pre-start and annual modules (8-10 hours for acute care)
• Work minimum 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year)
• Provide PACU recovery care as needed
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and radiology
• Adhere to fatigue policy limiting work to maximum 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
