Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate Pharmacy Tech - Pharmacy Tech to join our growing clinician community. Key Responsibilities:
• Perform pharmacy technician duties in a critical access hospital setting
• Maintain current state pharmacy technician license and CPHt certification
• Utilize Epic charting system for documentation and pharmacy operations
• Operate Pyxis medication dispensing system
• Prepare IV mixtures using aseptic technique
• Compound sterile and non-sterile pharmaceutical products
• Work in IV room preparing non-hazardous medications
• Sterilize laminar and horizontal flow hoods
• Handle controlled substance documentation requirements
• Identify and manage high-alert medications
• Recognize look-alike/sound-alike drugs and implement safety measures
• Ensure proper labeling and packaging of medications
• Understand various routes of medication administration
• Prevent and report medication errors
• Provide pharmacy services for adult and geriatric patient populations
• Work weekend shifts as required (Saturday/Sunday 0730-1800)
• Complete 8 hours of facility orientation
• Float between sister facilities and affiliate hospitals as needed
• Work 3 out of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• Complete required pre-start and annual training modules
• Provide 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of experience within last 3 years
• Self-report time spent on non-billable training modules
• Maintain vehicle for transportation as required for assignment
• Use facility-provided communication devices when necessary
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in OR
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
